Summer skin needs aftercare

Finally, it’s summer — the best time of the year is here: sunshine and warmth invite us to enjoy the outdoors and light. While the importance of sunscreen is perhaps discussed more than ever today, many people still forget an essential part of summer skincare: moisturizing and soothing the skin after sun exposure.

Skin exposed to UV radiation needs more than just hydration, because the sun stresses the skin, weakens its protective barrier, and can leave it feeling tight and red. Long-term sun exposure can also accelerate premature skin aging and increase skin damage over time.

There are two main types of UV radiation that affect the skin:

  • UVB rays, which cause sunburn
  • UVA rays, which are linked to long-term skin damage and premature aging

That’s why protecting the skin before sun exposure and caring for it afterwards go hand in hand.

How to care for sunburned skin

If your skin has started to turn red or become irritated from the sun, the most important step is to quickly get out of the heat.

  • Cool the skin with a cool shower or a damp towel
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Apply moisturizing and soothing products
  • Avoid strong exfoliation and acids in your skincare routine until the skin has recovered

What does the skin need after sun exposure?

In after-sun care, the most important goal is to restore moisture and support the skin’s natural barrier.

After sun exposure, the skin especially benefits from:

  • moisturizing and soothing ingredients
  • antioxidants such as vitamins C and E
  • skin-supporting oils and humectants, such as sea buckthorn oil

Etna – a surprising multi-purpose product for summer skincare

Although Etna is primarily an intimate product by name, it is also an excellent addition to your summer skincare routine for the entire body. Its formula contains moisturizing and soothing ingredients, making it ideal as an after-sun product!

CBD extract is known for its calming and balancing properties. It helps reduce visible redness and itching and helps protect the skin from environmental stress.

Glycerin effectively binds moisture into the skin and helps maintain softness and elasticity.

Sea buckthorn oil contains fatty acids and antioxidants that help nourish and care for sun-stressed skin.

Vitamin E and rosemary extract provide antioxidant protection and help the skin cope with oxidative stress caused by the environment.

Thanks to its lightweight, serum-like and easily spreadable texture, Etna works well on areas such as the back, shoulders, décolleté and face.

Thanks to its high CBD content (20%), Neo helps soothe visible irritation and redness and supports the skin’s natural balance. If you have insect bites or minor skin abrasions, try Neo as a spot treatment. You can also mix a few drops of the booster into your favorite moisturizer and apply Neo over larger areas if needed.

Always protect your skin with sunscreen

Although good after-sun care helps the skin recover, the most important step is still protecting the skin before sun exposure.

Remember:

  • use sufficiently high SPF protection
  • reapply sunscreen during the day — the recommendation is about every two hours
  • avoid excessive sun exposure, especially in the middle of the day

Summer skin feels its best when it is protected and cared for with the right products — also after sun exposure.
