CBD Doesn’t Get You High — It’s made from Hemp

CBD might raise questions or even cause concern, as many people mistakenly believe it is associated with intoxication — but this is not true. In discussions about CBD, facts and misconceptions have been mixed up a long time ago, which is unfortunate considering the excellent health benefits found in cannabis. CBD is extracted from hemp and intoxicates the user just as much as walking in hemp shoes would — not at all.

My journey with CBD began in 2018, while I was researching the Canadian stock exchange during the height of the “cannabis bubble.” Most companies in the sector were riding a wave of hype, with little to no real fundamentals. But there were two companies that caught my eye.

The skin is the largest organ of the human body, and it’s quite absurd that while we talk about “clean” or organic food, and many people want to eat consciously, we put plastic chemicals and hormone disruptors on our skin.

I first came across the ingredient called CBD in the fall of 2019. A Finnish person living in Luxembourg contacted me and suggested we start a CBD beverage company together. At first, I thought I had nothing to contribute and no interest in being involved in the cannabis business, but during a 45-minute phone call, he managed to convince me, and we agreed to meet.
